The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Stafford Cripps, received privately 12 leading West German politicians who are visiting Britain to study democratic administratfoh? He told1 them of Britain's economic position and the Government's efforts to put Germany back on her feet. Sir Stafford said that the Govermnent was not alarmed by the ntws of increased Gerrpan' competition, but British industrialists who had not met competition for the last eight years; were* inclined to be apprehengive at the "ferst news of competition.
