More Scientists For Pacific Congress
' ■ AUCKLAND, Jan. 30. Nine more delegates to the seventh Paeifie Science Congress arrived in Auckland today by air from Australia. Six of this.number were from Australia and .one each from England, Franee and Denmark. The leader of the Australian official delegation is Professor A. P. Elkin, anthropologist at the Sydney University. The othei Australian delegates to arrive were' Professor J. G. Wood, department Qf botany, University of Adelaide; Professor N. A. Burgess, botany; Sydney University; Dr. Horaee Waring, zoology, University of Western Australia; Dr. N .E. Goldsworthy, Dental Institute, Sydney; Dr. D. Carroll; geologist, New South Wales. The English scientist who arrived was Professor H. D. Kay, director of the Nation-
al Institute for Re^earch in Dairying at • the "University" of " Reading. Representing the Royal Danish Academy, Dr. A. P. Bruin is Denmark 's only delegate at the congress. One of the Freneh delegates to the congress, Dr. P. Bugincourt, director of the Freneh Oeeanie Institute, New Caledonia, arrived on Saturday. Speeialising in plant diseases he hopes to have the oppor'tunity of ihvestigating the work being done by the plant diseases branch of .the Department ot Scientilie and Industrial Research while in New Zealand. Dr. Bugincourt, who is .unable to, speak English, lias pr.ep0.red eight jspp.eclies for the congress. * . . - '
