Lord Boswells, Lady 's Man, Golden Hope and' Roinan Duke which were in the photograph for the minor placings. Half a mile from liome Baksoon, Arctotis and Legendre were setting the paee ahead of Night Rider, Pimlieo and Golden Hope, and Tussock and Lord •Boswells moved up to be in the picture as they straightened up for the run liome. Beau le Havre was in third place another length away and King's Ransom was next. The paee was a "cracker" at the half -mile where the field was racing in very close order. Tauloch moved up to join Hasty Glance as they raced into the home stretch and he appeared to be travelling just as easily as he was at that stage of the Gloaming Stakes. Soon he had headed Hasty Glance but by then King's Ransom- was closing on him and travelling very fast. Outside the last furlong King's Ransom was almost on terms and Tauloch, asked for another ell'ort, drevv away "again. King 's Ransom issued another challenge and again the colt drew ahead. Fifty yards from the post it looked as if the colt would win but, hard ridden, King's Ransom made a last desperate bid to draw level just short of the line. The photograph guve the raee to King's Ransom by a nose. Bruce was owly se length away and going like the, champion he is. Beau le Havre was just over a length liehind Bruce and Hasty Glance, which, by increasing the paee seven furlongs 'l'rom liome, reduced Tauloch 's chances of victory, was still galloping strongly not niuch over three Iengths from the winner. At the mile the order was Royal Victor, Robin's Reward and Joyful Lady, from Langham, linperial, Lord Ilevel, Quick March, The Denbigh, Banshee and Avenger. Quick March and linperial moved up to be handy to the leaders at the four, and Embrolita and Renowned were just in behind tliem as they raced to the three. Langhhm, Robin's Reward, Lord Revei, Quick March, Helio, Renowned, Yasda, Embrolita, Avenger, Banshee and Gay Stroller- were bunclied at the home turn and at the last furlong Langham, Lord Revel, Quick March, Gay Stroller, Avenger and Yasda were all in the picture. It was over the iast haif-furlong that Langham and Quick March joined issue in a battle which ended in favour oi: Quick March. J et Plane led this field to the straight, Follow Suit, Jacquinot Bay, Prawns, Livre d'Or, Corofin, Telegram and La Modelle being in that order when they turned' for home. Coron and Prawns had eharge at the last furlong and La Modelle, Announcei; and Telegram were challengiilg. In a good finish Prawns just beat Corofin. The' field was spread across" the course as tliey made the junction and The Pagan, . Citril, Faithful Pal, Magical, Travel King, Morocco and False Step were all in the picture. A furlong from the line, however, Citril drew out and she won by nearly a length from False Step, which finished fast after being behind the leadiug buncli on to the course proper. " , Demonic, ridden by Broughton, was favourite for the concluding event and he won nicely by the best part of a length from Faultina, which had worked so well at Awapuni on Thursday rnorning. Julius Caesar made all the paee, leading to the straight from Fluorescent Light, Jan, Lord Azure, Fleetwood and Dempnic. Demonic was in front half a furlong from the line and Faultina finished fast to beat Julius Caesar by two lengtlis. Jan was fourth and Veine d'Or was next.
