Big Sugar Harvest

As the result of a record Queensland sugar harvest in the season just ended, Britain will receive 30^,000 tons more sugar from Australia this year than was shipped last year. Mr. E. T. Pearce, Secrefcary of the- Australian Sugar Producers" Association, said that more than 400,000 tons- should be sent to the order of the British Food MinLstry this year. The Queensland cane harvest is expected to produce slightly over 900,000 tons of raw Sugar, the highest in the history of the industry. The previous blghest Was 891,000, in 1939. Last pear's yield was only 571,000.
