Australian Bowlers Arrive In New Zealand
. WELLINGTON, Jan, 31. A party of 32 Australian bowlers, twelve of whom .are accompanied by their wives, arrived today in the Wanganella from Sydney. The party, which is the first representative Commohwealth team to tour New Zealand since 1929, is draWn from ' Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. A tour will be made of both islands and it is expected that 24 matches will be played. The team includes Mr. J. Gibson, president of the Australian Bowling Council and past president of the Queensland Bowling Associafcion. The oldest member of the party is Mr. W. Sumpton, a past president of the Australian Bowlling Council, who is 75. Another member is the Hon. H. S. Henley, M.L.C., a member of the Upper House in New South Wales for the past 14 years.
