Commercial Association Meets

The monthly meeting of the Otaki Commerciai Association was neid on Wednesday ' night, Mr, W. McBeth presiding. A delegation comprising Mesrs. J. jD. Avery, N. D. Anderson, and E, J. iCook, a'dviSed having visited Wellington during the day and having jinterviewed the Minister of Works, jthe Hon. R. Semple. The possibility cf "narnessing" the river at the (Otaki Forks for the purpose of | establishing a water Supply for the whole of the southern end of the jdistrict was out'ined, and the Minj ister expressed himself as wholeiheartedly in favour of the suggesjtion. A report in full will be pre'sented to the Otaki Borough Council. The del'ay in the erection of State HouSes in Otaki was another matter that the deputation had brought before the notice of the Minister, who promised that following the recenf completion of a large coptract in the Hutt, portion lof the gang emp'oyed there would Ibe trahsferring to Otaki very soon, ; when the 23 • houses on- the urgent 'list will be commenced. Members of the deputaticn , were accorded thanks for their efforts and reports. The meeting deci'ded to enlist the assistance of ihe Mayor, Mr. C. F. Atmore, and the Member" for. the district, Mr. J. J. Maher, in sup^ort of a protest "recorded 'against theJ .removal of the civil court from Otaki.
