Excellent Fields For Trentham Tomorrow

L.M.M.)

(Specialfrom

• •' WELLINGTON, January 2'8. ■ Excellent fields are harded tomorrow for the concluding 4av of the Wellington Racing Club's summer meeting at Trentham. So far form has not proved, as reliable as was expected, but if the fine weather continues students of form should experience a fairly good: run of success now the fields are thirined out a Jittle compared with the first two days of the meeting. Several fresh horses are engaged to complicate the bettors' problems. Other meetings tomorrow are Auckland, Wairoa apd Bay of Plenty. • •

Another good field is engaged in the principal event, the Summer" Handicap, at Trentham,, including six fresh horses. Best form is held by the Wellington R.C. Handicap winner Langham, who has not been out of a place in four starts. He. won well on Monaay and will now be one of tne favourites. Imperial finished so 'well from the back to secure third prize in the main . event at the Ashhurst meeting that he will carry solid support tomor-j row." Royai Victor, a form prospect, was going well in the We'ling-! ton R.C. Handicap on Monday until a bafi check* and bump put hfm out of the contest. Old Langue d'Or "gave a tas.e of his q'uafity when he finished fourtii on Monday, and on that form will be respected. Beau-Or, a fresh horse, comies in we 1 at the weights. His form has been so consistent this term that I expect him to give an excellent account of himself, particuiarly so if the going is easy. Other prospects are Lord Reve:,Quick March, Bobby Dazzler, who iran a fine rac^ in the WePington Cup, and Avenger, who was well up in the Wellington R.C. Handicap. | The open sprint, the City Handi'cap, should provide a keen race jwith such good form sprinters enIgaged as Da Vinci, Citri1, Voltaic, MJagical, False Step, The Pagan, Jan and Pitoitoi. Citril has freshened up nicely since winning on the first day and although up in the weights to 9.10 she can be relied on to give the others a tcugh irun. In fact, if conditions suit, she 'should win again. Da Vinci, with the steadier of -10.0, is a grand ;weight carrier who should again be with the leaders at tlie finish. He looks very well. Magic'al- is: standing' 'up to racing with a'great heart and It would not surprise if he'beat the ■ f avourite. F^se Step 4s 'ca.ming; into strong favour and Hastings touts are confident that the mare will win. The Pagan's form is good. Jan is a good one from the soutii, but is likeiy to start in the j Thornton Handicap. Pitoitoi seems I to be returning to brilliant best. •Her finishing run from right back to a close finish fifth in the sprint at the Ashhurst meeting was a Ijnagnificent performance. Pitoitoi at her best would be a distinct prospect. She might prove a lucrative place proposition. The Trentham Stakes is expected to give Tauloch his fifth consecutive win this season. His mairi opposition w7ill be Bruce, but bettors will play solid' y for the brilliant three-year-old and any of the others in the field will be at good prices. - Prospects for Trentham, Auckland and Bay of Plenty are: —
