Many persons were injured in clashes with the police, and several ' : hysterical women f ainted as they fought to get a glimpse . of ■ the bridal pair when movie star Tyrone Power married Linda Christian today. The ceremony began with : near rioting in spite of the presence 1 of 300 police armed with rifles, 24 motor-cycle police and ten on horses. Some of Rome's "bobbysoxers" broke through the cordon as " Power arrived. In true Holly'wood'style cameras whirred and fioodlights blazed within the 1000- ' year -old . chu'r ch of Santa Francesca Ronaana,' as the A-merican Primate, . Monsignor William Hemmeck (a > (a Canon of Saint Peter's) conducted the service in English. The noise from the crowd outside almost 'drowned the servics. During the 'Service photographers jockeyed harbufI*(Fthe hridah couple from wantage points. Linda was dressed in 17th century style with a white satin dress closely sewn with seed pearls and •sequins. .Her bridal train was more than 15 feet long and her veil about 22 feet. ' An elecfric organ, which was in- : stalled in the ancient church especially for 'the service, could not be used because of a power cut. The Pope 'received the couple in audience after the ceremony.
