WELLINGTON, Jau. 26. j The advauced accountancy prize of j thc University of New Zeaiand. has 1 been awarded for 1948 to Mr. G. J. j Williamson, of Christchurch. The j award was approved today by the Uni- j versitv Senate. The reports of the examiners for the j Bowen prize in history and tlie Mae- j millan Brown prize in Englisli, stated ; that none of the few entries roceived was of sufficient standard to nierit an | award. For this reason none was made. J The Chancellor,' Sir David Sniith, ro- j ferred to a new annual prize in Greek to tlie value of TIO, prespifted to the I University by Sir Jlarry Batterbee, I lirst United Kingdom Iligli Commissioner in New Zeaiand. The Senate recorded appreciation of tlie gift.
