Received Friday, 7.15 p.m. CANBERRA, Jan; 21. Air. Chifley said today that despite Australia Js improved dollqr position no possibility existed of any general relaxation on imports from dollar areas. Over all there had been no general dollar improvement in the Empire. The Austi'alrhn position had improved because of strictness, but .Austpalia still arew dollars from the Empire pool, the figures for whieh were not as good as anticipated, While Britain was in trouble Australia could not alford to be laA'ish. t ^ «
