BRIGADIER'S VIEW OF CHINA UNDER COMMUNISTS
Received Thursday, 7 -p.m. HONG KONG, Jan. 20. The future of Hong Kong with a Communist dominated China as neigUbour, depends entirely on the Communists themselves, " who would not be foolish enough to disregard such a prosperous colony, " said Brigadier Leonard Field, British miiltary attache at Nani;ing, who is here en route to London. Brigadier Field expressed the opinion that it was now a matter of time before the Communists take, over China as the ' Nationalist forces had been badly mauled in recent . months. He saiu there was no evidence of any foreign nssistanee to tlie Chinese Communists. He doubted whether foreign trade would lie atfected by a Communist J China because both China and Russia depended upon the outside world for many of their requirements. ' - Brigadier Field, who - has spent 27 years in China, said Aloatsetung and General Chuteh were regarded as capable.
