Baby Taken From Maternity Home
Received Thursday, 7.20 p.m. SYD*NEY, Jan. 20, All available detectives are searching for a six-day-old baby girl taken from a cot alongside her sleeping motlier, in a ward at the Crown Street Hospital occupied by 15 other mothers and their babies. The yardman at the hospital which is Sydney's biggest maternity estabJishment, said he saw a blonde woman wiiom he mistook for a nurse returning from a party, enter the hospital by the' iire escape early this morning. A woman in evening dress and earrying a baby, was later seen at 'King's ('ross. .She inquired the whereabouts of a chemist. . AI alron A. Sliaw broadcast an appeal for the baby's roturn and gave advice on care and feeding. Afternoon newspapers carry these instructions together with the advice that witliout regular and carefui attention the baby inight'die.
