Final Arrangements Made For Show
The committee of the Horowhenua A. and P. Associa'tion met recently to make the final arrangements for the annual* show, which will take place on. January 28 and 29. Present were Messrs. J. A. Kilsby (chairman), H. J. Lancaster, W. M. Williams, H. J. Kilsby, A. M. Scott, C. Webb," J. Hopkins, A. R. Macfarlane, P. R. Catley, J. W: Gimblett, J. Morgan, L. G. Bismark, J. Blenkhorn, K. Kirkaldie, J. Todd, C. Adkin, W. S. Long, D. Blake, W. Simcox,, 'G. Knight, C. Arcus, R. Mexted, M. Rolston, J;. H. Mungavin, F. O. Malcolm and R. W. Evans. Apologies were received from Messrs. S. Barber, W. Moynihan, J. J. Proctor, R. L. Robinson j and W. Munford, Reference was made by . Mr. ! Kilsby to the recent deaths of Mrs. Henson, Mrs. S. L. Jackson and Mr. H. Bowling, and motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives. Mr. Todd gave particulars of the arrangements which had v been made by the town committee in regard to the sideshows and entertainment for the night show. The chairman was appointed to attend to the question of lighting for this fixture. The matter of arranging a fence round the stand was . left to Mr. Blenkhorn, while Messrs. Arcus and Scott were asked to procure a milking plant for any show cattle which would require being milked. It was decided to contact Mr. Tait, of Dannevirke, and ask him to judge the dog trials. The necessity of obtaining the services of some boys to assist in leading the cattle in the grand parade was mentioned by Mr. Malcolm. At the previous show, the boys of the Levin Training Centre had been very helpful in this regard, it was stated. It was decided to write to Mr. J. Linklater congratulating him on his award of the O.B.E.
