Sealing Of Right Of Way Behind Shops
The right of way behind shops on the railway side of Oxford Street was again discussed by the Levin Borough Council' this week, when a firm of solicitors representing Messrs. A. W. Allen, Ltd., wrote seeking approval of the subdivisional plan for the area behind the Arcadia Hotel, recently purchased by the firm. At a previous meeting the firm offered the land to the council in order that the road might be'.carried through to Bath iStreet and maintained thereafter by tlie eountail. In its letter the firm of solicitors asked that the council tar seal the whole of the area from the post office to Bath Street to combat the dust nuisance. It was pointed out at the meeting that the cost of this would be in the vicinity of £100, and that no assurance had been given by the council that such work v/ould be done. After further discussion it was decided that nothing could be done at the moment until the council's solicitors had approached the individual shop owners regarding the handing over of the areas immediately behind their premises. Not until this land was secured by the council could dedication of the road be approved.
