A statempgt issued on behalf of the trades unipns, said workers in the iudqstry were aiixious thgt it shoulcj be run eepnqmically and eflS.cjently. Thev wero qaturglly coneerned at the very heayy [ossps being incurred bv the three corporations at prpspnt and colisidered fhat merger proposals, if adopted, fi'puld enable British civil airwgys to be run at a profit. If t}ie proposals are adopted by the joint council, they will go to Lord Pakenham, Minigter of Civil Aviation, and will then probably b.e test.ed by an inquirv.
