Woodville Open Seven To Autoshine The President's Handicap, feature race at Woodville on Saturday when the Pahiatua Raeing Club's ineetiiig was concluded, was won by Tenor Royal wliich, twelfth at the half mile, finishecL brilliantly to vin by two lengths froni Kippo which hung on to beat the i'ast -linishing Sly -Robin by a neek. . The raee was run in fast time and Tenor Royal 's effort was impressive; . Tenor Royal appeared hopelessly placed as they'ran to the straight, . and; Lorcl Phrosa a,nd Kippo were out clear as they made the tuni. They were tiayelling I'ast. Beau Bijou was next in order ahead of Clyde Bridge, Embrolita and The Stormovik The issub was well clouded at the distance but then Tenor Royal dashed into the picture and won decisiyely by two lengths. Lord Phrosa ;was fourth followed by Flymg Bridge, Fairhome, Culloden Moor, Beau Bijou and Embrolita.
The -weather .was fine and the course, a shade faster than for the first day, was in good order. There -was a large attendance and the totalisator handled £48,000, compared with £42,660 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £98,462, compared with £94,579 £ last year, the increase heing £4882 Palissy Just Won Palissy won the higliweight but was hard ridden over the final i'urlong to nieet the deterniined challenge from lvanhoe. Eloi'a, sevcnth at the tliree, limshed well t'or third just iu front of Nepeta, which had beeu responsible for most of the pare. Lady 's Man, Wa*lvenart and Denny 's Gift were next. Nepeta and Surrender led early and Nepeta, lvanhoe7, EurPeYidciy, ,;Magnus Lux, PaJ.issy, Tlie .Swagger, Elofa-;' and' Gold Lad was the order at the tliree. Palissy and Elofa moved up to be in close order on the leaders as they rau to the straiglit where Palissy and Ivau-. hoe t'ought Ihe finish, the margin at tlie! Hue being half a head. Da Vinci Was Just Beaten . Da Vinci was the xavourite for tlie open seven and a furlong from hoine he looked to have the raee won.
