MAORI CHILD IS DROWNED IN LAKE
WANGANUI, Jan. 16. A §hild who was at the Maori MethOdist capip being held on the Wanganui raeecouise, was drowned in ' an ornamental lake ill the grouttds on »Saturday evening. He Was Mura TerenCe Governor, aged 24 years, son of Mrs. Ehnice Governor, of LoWer Hutt. The Child, who was a grandson of Mrs. Norah Governor, of Hawera, who is "Camp mother" wandered away while the others were at tea. It had a -bail and this hpparently went into the lake and the child in chasing after it, got OUt of its depth in water that. is abodt t.W0 fOef SiX inches deep. Resusoitation efforts Wfefe made by a skilled nirrse, Mr§. Alisoil K. Darvill, wife of tilv ■ Bev, H.. Darvill, chief officer of the camp, but without succes's.
