Successful Evening Sports
The Shannon Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held another of its popular evening sports meetings on the Shannon domain on (Tuesday evening. It was well patronised by the publie of Shannon, and adde'd interest was accorded the events by the good attendance of . visiting athletes and cyclists from clubs in the district. " Of great interest to the spectators was a relay race, run over 440 yards, the competitors being teams representing the Post Office, Albion Hotel, Dairy Company, Carpenters and « Farmers. The runners in this event were accorded great applause on their efforts, hnd many challenges of varying conditions and distances were put forward by other members of the community to the winners. There Was a very generous response to -the request for donations, and the club benefited by the sum Of £6. Results of the events were as follows: — 9 Children's Races Girls under 10 years, 50 yards. — M. R6dshaw 1, N. McEwan 2, M. Woodmass and M. Redshaw (dead heat) 3. Girls under 14 years, 75 yards. — D. Moss 1, L. Homer 2. Girls' three-legged race. — Clare Trueman and Dulcie Pratt 1, M. Redshaw and M. Kohika 2.

General addition children's races were held at the conclusion of the athletic and cycling events, and these were continued until darkness prevented further •events being run off, thus eoncluding a very pleasant evening's entertainment for both competitors and spectators.
