The titleholders Garelja aild Marin'ovieh (Oratia) were eliminated, losing their renraining life in the first round' today to Livingstone and Wills (Walton) by a good margin, 15-20. The rinks and pairs Cliampion for 1936; Haworth (Christchurch) was eliminated in the third round today by ' North (Papatoetoe) by the decisive margin 11 — ^4. Two-lifers remaining at- the end of the play are: Smitli (Christchurch), Jones and Kensington (Whangarei), Ganderton (Balmoral). Spcarman (Sydenham) the singles titleholder in 1937 and 1941 and skip of the winning rink in 1944, lost a' life to N. Donaldson (Ponsonby) in the tirst
round today, but won liis remaining games convincingly. Mingins (Onehunga), cliampion rink skip in tlie last tournament, witli Livingstone (Onehunga), former singieS cliampion as lead, sliowed great fighting powers and a remarkablv thoughtful approach to the game in winning tu-ice today from an adverse position. They ■ lost their first life this morning.
