Next Monday night "the Levin Qombined Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will frold it§ initial cbntest for the Golden HelmetThe firgt to have the honour of competing . for this most-coveted trophy will be the winners of the mateh races last Monday night. Purchased by the club To encourage all riders, in the'nistrict, the Golden Helmet will be com* peted for at Levin every Monday night, and the winner will be entitled to wear it at all meetings he attends during the week. With the matching of E>. Smith (Otaki) and H. Watsqn (Foxton) and P, Roache (Otaki) an'd D. Yeates (Levin), some excellent racing should be witnessed, more especially when the winners meet in the final. The following week the best of the rider's will be matehed to decide who challenges the winner. There will be the usual senior, junior and open races on the programme. Athletes will be turning on their best performances from now on, as selections will be made during the next two Monday nights of the representatives to take part in the West Goast Centre- champions'hjps, to be hel'd at Palmerston North on Saturday, February 12. Clubs are only allowed three entries in each event and, with the large number of competitors running this year, the. Levin •Club should go close to annexing Some of the titles. The high and broad jumps for ladies and men Will also add variety to the programme an'd Levin has athletes i who should also make a bold ; showing in these" events at the championships. | The usual children's races will j take place, including the tricyqle sprint for boys and girls.
