Still Arguing Award For Milk Workers ' WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. , An agreement had no"t been. reached o"n the most disputed elauses after a full day's hearing in Conciliation Couucil of the elaims of the new award covering New. Zealand (exeept Welling- - ton 2p mile radius) milk pasteufisiug and bottling factories' employees. It was the third meeting of the couneil to eonsider the dispute. When the council rose it had before it an offer by the employers' representative, Mr. S. I. McKenzie, of a basie wage of £6 17s 6d subject to agreement - on other elauses. He proposed that the agreement be for two years. - Among the elauses still in dispute is that regarding holidays, the workers' representative, Mr. L. D. Robertson, asking for three weeks in every 36 and the~"employers offering two in every 52. Agreement was reached on the muchdisputed question of early starting. The workers' assessors agreed that employees in milk storage depots whose regular liOurs of work began hfefore 7 a.m. or after 5.30 p.m,, should be ceive only shift workers' payment of 12s 6d a week in addition to their ordinary ..-wages. An exeeption 'was made in the "case of 'workers called on to relieve, on earlier starts for less than five consecutive days, who should be paid for sueh work at overtime rates. Police investigations into alleged pillaging from the New Zealand Shipping Company 's vessel Kaikoura in JDecember, led to the appearanee-in. the Magistrate's Court, of James Patriek.
