Most of the class gallopers have been e'njoyirig a brief holiday, but they will be back on the tracks this weekend in ,'rpadiness for engagements at Trentham. The fancied pair in.the. two main events at Woodville tomorrow are Beau Bijou,- President's Handicap, and Tranquil Gold, Newmarket Handicap, both of which are expected to run prominently. . Oth er meetings tomorrow are. the single day of Avondale and the second day of the Vincent meetiiig, which opened yesterday.

A good field of 18 have accepted for the President's Handicap at Woodville and recent form is well represented by Barrage, Embrolita, Beau Bi'jou, Tenor Royal, Clyde Bridge, The Stormovik and Indian Sky. • Of the above name'd seven Beau Bijou should hold his own. Since graduating into open company he has had a second and win in two starts. He gives every indication of developing into a class performer. Embrolita also has good recent form to recommend as also has Tenor Royal and Barrage, and I think this. quartet will fight out the issue. Keen interest will be taken in the Newmarket Handicap in view of the reappearance of Da Vinci, who has not raced since when Jie won the Shorts Handicap at Trentham in October. Invariably he races well when fresh, but he has a solid impost and this, along with three months' spefi, might trouble him. Tranquil Gold will he his worrying factor, although Demure, whose Tauherenikau form was good, might also be ip the issue. This trio appear to be the pick of the field, Of the others Sorrel reads bes't. Prospects for Pahiatua and Avondale are:
