MR. JOHN SANDISON

With the sudden passing of Mr.« Jphn- Sandison, at his Margaret Street residence, on the morning of Boxing Day," Shannon lost one of its most respected citizens. Born . in Scotland 56 years ago, Mr. Sandison came to this coUntry with hi's.wife and family from Cape Ness aboard the S.S. Waimana on October 9, 1921, and had resided in Shannon ever since. His flrst position was with the Shannon Dairy Company, which' he served faithfully for 27 years. In July last Alr. Sandison suffered a painful accident while carrying out his duties within the dairy factory, and he was an inmate of the Palmerston. North Hospital for five months. He-'had only resumed his duties two months before his passing. Left to mourn their loss are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Moity, who now resides in the United States of America, and one son, Marcus, of Aifokland. The high esteem • in which the late Mr. Sandison was held locally- was evident by* the many messages of sympathy and beautiful floral tributes received by his wife and family. The funeral left the Presbyterian Ghurch for the Shannon cemetery. The services at the church and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. J. Martin. The pall-bearers were Messrs. K. .Woodmass, K. Randolph,;'0. G. Wishart, H. Tippler, C. Tremewan and H. Pope, all workmat.es and devoted friends of the deceased gentleman. .
