Manakau's Recreational Reserve
■ That Manakau should r'etain its only recreational reserve, a one acre property, was the unanimous decision of the' Horowhenua County Council when it met yesterday. The question of the future of this small area arose on receipt of a letter from the Department of Lands and Survey stating that it had received an offer for the purchase of the reserve, and desired the council's opinion before consideration was given to the offer. In his letter the department official stated that it was do.ubtful if it was good policy to dispose ~o*f The reserve, .as it was situated in a progressive area and it would be reasonable to assume that t-ne land would be required for re'creation in the future. | Cr. A. M. Atkins said he thought ,the property should be retained 'and the chairman, Mr. A. M. ColquIhoun, and others voiced- similar 'sqntiments,
