Persanal ; Miss Joy Birch, of Palmerston North, is visiting friends in Shannon, and is the guest of Mrs. G. Moss, Ballance Street. , The friends of Mr. Eric Hook, Grey Street, will regret to learn that he has been granted three months' sick leave from 'his position at the Shannon Dairy 'Com-. pany's store. Word has been received by Mrs. J. Alexander, Stafford Street, that her father, Rev. A. F. Stewart, has arrived in South Africa where he ifc to spend a year's holiday visit as the guest of his soh, Mr. Dan Stewart, at Durban. At the meeting of the board of directors of the Shannon Dairy Company on' Tuesday, a motion of 3ympathy was passed with the wife and fa.mily of the late Mr. John Sandison, a loyal member of the company's staff, whose sudden death took place on December 26 at his residence. Christmas greetings from Mr, and Mrs. A. Rawlinson and family, of Melbourne, have been received by a number of their local friends. ■Mr. Rawlinson was very well-known in Shannon some years ago, when he was associated with Mr. Harold Hook in the local hairdressing salon. He has been a resident of Australia for some years after spending a considerable time in South Africa. Iri recent letters to friends here, Mr. Rawlinson stated that he intends to pay a holiday visit to South Africa this year.
