Personal .Mr. and Mrs. Taylor and their young son, of Huntly, are holidaying in Shannon as the guests of Mr. J. E. Taylor, Stout Street. : ' Miss T. Jeffrey, of Christchurch, spent a short visit to Shannon last week when she visited her parents, Mi\ and Mrs. A. E. Jeffrey, Moutoa. Two former residents of this town, Messrs Ted and George Exton, visited Shannon at the weekend and spent a busy time looking up their many old fribnds. Mr. Norman Wong, who has been staying with Mr. Harry Kam over the Christmas and New Year holidays, has now returned to his home in Auckland. - Mr .and Mrs. Norris, Senr. ,of Wanganui, are holidaying with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Norris, Stafford Street. A former resrdent of Shannon of many years standing, Mr. Geo. Quarrie, now of Paraparaumu, is holidaying with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S. Morrison, Grey Street. An Ideal Weekend The i'deal summer weather which prevailed over the weekend left little to be desired for those people who spent most of their weekend out-of-doors. Competition sport was re-commenced after the holiday recess, with the local cricketers journeying to Paraparaumu. Tennis, bowls and croquet were also popular pass-times, while many made their way to the beaches. Although fishing conditions were not good on Sun'day afte'rnoon, a party of local enthusiasts went to Waitarere and spent a really enjoyable evening, On Saturday a' wellfilled bus took local sportsmen and women over to Woodville for the race meeting. Worthy of mention, is the fact that Shannon's streets are now very tidy over the weekends. It is very pleasing to see that most qitizens are co-operating in keeping the town tidy and making the surr.oundings pleasing, not^ only to Shannon people but to'J those passing/ through.
