WELLINGTON, Jan." 7. , Wanganui became the holders of the Besel Cup for the first time since 1941 when- they beat Manawatu 4 — 3 in the final of the women 's provincial softball championships at Athletic Park today. A large erowd saw a thrilling and elose game with both teams giving good pert'ormances. The trial game to seleet the New Zealand team to tour Australia in March will be held tomorrow. It is understood one or two certainties have been oinitted from the trial in order to give more players an opportunity of proving their vvorth. The trials teams announced today are: — Probables: D.
