WELLINGTON, Jan. 5. . The national women 's softball championships opened in glorious sunshine at Athletie Park today. The tournament eommenced with- a mareh past of the eight' provincial teams, the mareh past and unifoxm display being won by the newly-formed King Country Association team. The holders of the Bensel Gup, Wellington, were surprisingly beaten by Wanganui. Kesults:— Wanganui 5 , Wellington 3; Waikato Qj Hutt Valley 5. ' Manawatrw 11, Horowhenua 3.
