Last Sunday, so great was the gathering wishing to go to Foxton Beach that it was necessary to run an extra bus. Two buses made the trip. Waitarere Beach was also a popular holiday retreat and others moved further afleld to Waikanae. Paraparaumu and Plimmerton attracted those who were fortunate enough to spare longer periods than just a day at the seaside. Two Church Dances The Anglican Ladies' Guild conducted two dances. over the holidays, the first on New Year's Ev^, when there was a good attendance. At midnight the gathering heralded in 'the New Year with the customary rejoicing and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." Again on Monday evening the Parish Hall was the scene of gaiety when the second dance was held. Both functions were popular with 'the dancing public of the town. A competition dance held on Monday evening was won by Miss C. Burke and Mr. - A. Burke. Mrs. T. Fuller, of Moutoa, provided the music for both functions.
