GUERRILLA OPERATIONS IN DUTCH INDIES
BATAVIA, Jan. 3. Neitlier the Good Oflices Committeiuor Consular Committee has yet been officially informed of Lientenanr General Spoor's order anuouncing tlial hostilities terminated in Java on December 31. General >Spoor's order clarilies why the Java operations had -not been mentioned in communiques since the i end of the year and confirins what earlier communiques had suggested timi all important objectives had been attained and consequently major troop moveinents had ceased. Aleanwhile, Republican sources in Batavia say that, aecording to reports reaching them from private channels, a pre-planned scheme of guerrilla operations is now being put into effeci widely witli the intention of„ preventing Dutch attempts to restore ■ norma, economy and production. In this man ner, it is suggested, they hope to prove to the world the impossibilitv of tappiug Java's economic wealth without Republican cooperation. A Dutch Army communique today reports the surrender of 109 former Republican otiicers in Jogjakarta.
