Boy Drowned While Taking Dogs For Swim

— AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. A schoolboy aged twelve was drowned in the Wharehine River on Bunday. He was Henry Ralph Hawthorne, son of. Mr. Sydney Herbert Hawthorne, farmer of Wharehine, near Wellsford. The boy left home at 11' o'cloek on Sunday morning to take two farm dogs for a swim in the river. When he t'ailed tb return at 2 p.m., a search was eommenced. It was not until 9 p.m. that his body was recovered from a dam in the river not far from the home. An inquest was held before the District 'Coronet and a verdiet of accidentai drowning was returned.
