Enjoyable Barn Dance
The Manakau Hall was filled' to jverflowlng on Saturday night when a barn dance was hel'd and it proved a great success. The Farmers' Queen Committee organised the function, and their funds will ben&fit considerably. Tunefui music by an orchestra from Pa'merston Norch kept the large crowd in a true carnival moo'd, and many requests were received for another function at an early date. A waltzing ccmpetition created much interest and it was won by Miss M. Bevan and Mr. H. Benhing. Noveltv dances were wqn by Miss E. Brown and partner, Miss B. Staples and Mr. B. Taratoa, MisS M. Bevan and Mr. . H. Benning, Mrs. W. Cole and part- : ! ner and Mr. I. Robinson 'and part- ■ tner. 4' The Farmers' Queen, Miss Edna ■ j Tayior, was presented with a boudquet from members of the Mana!|kau Women's institute, a gesture j that was much appreciated. I Thanks are also due to the many ; ' supporters who donated prizes. Mr. j.J. Miller ably carried out ihe dut- ■ I ies of M.C. and catering arrangeiments, in the hands of Mrs. J. iRoyal, were excellent.
