New Bulls Bridge To Open Temporarily

The neiv Bulls bridge will eb tempor: arily -open for traffie from Deeember 22 or 23, aeeording to information received yesterday by the Alanawatu Arutomobile Assoeiation. The period during which the bridge may be used ha? been restrieted to about three weeks which will be the period the workmen are away on holidav. The bridge is not yet quite complete but bv about Deeember 22 the conerete deeking will have been iaid and set and it is- considered 110 harm ean be done the bridge to open it for traffie during the holidav period provided inotorists do not drive f a^t 'over it. To this end the A.A. has deeided to erect warning signs asking motorists to drive slowly beea*ase the conerete at the Bulls end is still somewhat green. The opening of the bridge means that the usually heavy holidav traffie will not be lieid up by the bottieneek caused by the old one-wav bridge. The' new bridge will be elosed again for a short period sometime in mid- January until it is eompleted. The southern approach to the bridge , has been eomplete'd and is ready for traffie. Motorists will be able to use it from today instead of inaking the detour via ()hakea as they had to do when the approach was under construetion.
