Sir Bernard Freyberg In West Australia
Received Monday, 12.11 a.m. PERTH, Dec. 12. • Sir Bernard and Lady Freyberg returned to Perth yesterday after a twoday tour of tke soutkwest areas of Western Anstralia. They will leave for the eastern States by air tomorrow. After visiting the karri forests, Sir Bernard said he was impressed by the immense value of the timber industry to Western Anstralia. Most of New Zealand 's hardwoods had been used and that eountry had to relv upon planting exotic softwoods for its timbef requirements: At ^Pemberton they inspected timber mills and saw felling operations and the hauling of . logs through tlie forest. They passed through some of the State 's apple eountry and at Ilarvey Sir Bernard was greatly interested in the loe-al irrigation scheme which is used mainly for fodder and dairying. The Vice-Regal party attended loeal reception§ en route. . Today they attended morning service in St. George 's Cathedral and later . ,drove through the city and suburbs to visit beacli resorts.
