WANGANUI AT NIGHT
i Several of the teams competing at Palmerston Nouth went on to Wanganui for the contest held in Cooks Gardens at night. This was t'he first contest staged by the newly-formed Wanganui Association and proceedings commenced with a spectacular street march by two bands and 13 teams. In all 19 teams , took part in the contest, the •results'- being as follows: — - i Contest march: The Fashion (Dannevirke) 279£ points, 1; D.I.C. (Wanganui) 279, 2; Caledonian (Levin) 274, 3. >■ Champion leader: Miss B. Stewart (Hutt Valley) 57 points, 1; Miss L. McLaughton (Hastings Police) 52, 2; Miss N. Rennie (Wanganui) and Miss L. Thompson (J. W. Shaws, Hastings) 51 (equal), 3. Street march: Rebels (Petone) !19 points, 1; D.I.C. (Wanganui)' ' 18, 2; Fitzroy Surf Club (New'Ply- , mout'h) 17i, 3. i Best costumes: Police (Hastings) 234 points, 1: D.I.C. (Wanganui) 23, 2; Hutt Valley Ambassadors No. 1, 224, 3. ! f
