Mass Destruction Of Groups Outlawed

The United Nations General Assembly today Unanimously approved a cdhVentiori outlawing genocide, which is defined as the mass destructioh of any group such as Hitler's action agaihst the Jews. Fifty-dlve natiohs voted .for the eonVention, which the asSembly's president, Dr. H. V, Evtitt,- described as an "epoch-making event." The assembly rejected by 39 votes to eight a Soviet attempt to elinrinate -any > pTovision f-Of an international trib'unal. It also rejected a Soviet-backed proposal to outlaw "cultural genocide." Mr. Alexander Morosov, ih announcing the RUssians' surpyiSe decision to vote for'the conventiori, said that much bf the sting had been taken out by the rejection of :he Soviet suggestions.
