Butter Refused New Baths Cafeteria

AUCKLAND, T)ec. 8. The City Couneil lias been refused an issue of butter tor the cafeteria wliicli is alniost ready for opening at the Parnell swiniining baths. . Mr. P. N. Anibier, chairman of the council's health conynittee, saicl that an application t'or a butter ration had been made to the rationing oflice at Auckland, but the committee had been advised that because the bath cafeteria was a new enterprise, none could be made available. "The butte"? was to be used for sandwiches and pikelets wliich would be part of a proper Juncheon meal the rouncil intended to serve, he said. Butter rations were made available to other establishments in the city which served iunches and the committee intended to take the matter further and ( to write to the Food Controller in Wellington. The baths were being patronised quite considerably ' in . the lunch period by employees of large industrial firms nearby and inqu^ries had revealcd that if refreshments were on sale, more workers would be induced to use the baths. The manager of oue lirin had stated that if a meal was served he would be willing to provide transport to take his employees to and from the pool.
