Southland's Good Wool Clip
"INVERCARGILL, Dec. C>. To relieve congestion in the Invercargill wo»l stores, poriuission has been granted the Woolbrokers' Associ--J ation to increase the 8outhland alloca- ' tion of wool at the first sale on JanuI ary 7, from 25,000 to 30,000 bales. Oue • of the lieaviest clips in recent years is expected in Southland this seasou. A - good winter followed by a mild spring,
has rcsulted in fleeces averaging a pound heavier tluui those of last seasou. The result has been increased quantities for liaiidling in brokers' stores and the need for an increased allocation. ' Another factor' wliich has ccmtributed to 'tlie heavier demand. on the stores,
has been the influx of northern sheep to Gouthland pastures. These sheep have been shorn in Gouthland and the wool will be offered at the sale. Indications are that the Southland clip for the seasou will total 7000 or 8000 bales more than the total last season. ' -
