Colourful Procession

It was unfortunate that rain feh so early on Saturday af ternoon,. as the function arranged by the Otaki boy scouts gave promise o* achieving . -most saxisfactory .■ resultst As it was a splendid return was recorded. Headed by the Otaki Band, . a most colourful procession marched. from the Otaki Post Office to- the home of Mrs. J. Meagher, in Kirk ..Street, where a brmg-and-buy haa been arranged. The band was iollowed by the Bandoliers and TuL marching teams. Next came a good array of decorated bicycles, in turn followed by many fancy costumes, and then the scouts and guides. Following the arrival at its destination, the prOcess.on disbanded and the stalls did brisk business. Mr. F. Rule, chairman of t-he Otaki Scout Committee, congratuated the stall holders on their display and also the entrants in the procession, and called on Canon H. E. K. Fry to opem the function. Canon Fry welcomed all and offered his congratu.atlons to the scout movement on its initiative, ' the band and the marc'hmg teams on their help.'in the display and the many. entrants in the procession. Decorated pram: MiSs Mehegan Stewart. Costumes: Firsts, Miss Margaret Walker and ! Ma'ster Kevin GoWer ; s'e'COndjs, Masters Barry Wa'lke'f, Keith McLeavey and Murray Willis. During the afternoon the Otaki Band had rendered many pleasing selections. '
