Despite the heavy rain which fell during the latter part of Satinrday aftetnoon, most of the corh[petition matches were played to a 'finish. College and "Weraroa drew,.' while Paraparaumu and.. Foxton scored five point wins over "Levin and Old Boys, In the junior section, College A had an Cig'ht poiiiter over Foxton. ; College v. Weraroa The rain spoiled what promised to be a bright ihatch with good iscoring, especially On the part df Weraroa, Who had riotched 19? TUns in quick time before the end o'f their innings and the game. • College did not bat. The fedture of the. innings was the knock by ;/Ellis who produced a useful 50 . before being Cleafi bowled by MC'Lean. Southcombe bowled ten nvers and took four wickets for 12 ■runs^/while McLean bowled 12 ov.ers and took three? for 15. Paraparaumu v. Levin, Paraparaumu had a vety narrow Win over Levin, beAtihg them by six runs on the first innings. Paraparaumu' were the first to -bat and made 97, most notable effot'ts being B. RoWe's 34 and GfoVes' 14. JUdd took six wickets for 41 tuh^ Levin replied with 91, Wellg (28) and Smith (26) being the top scorers. GroveS' bowlihg was excellent and he was responsible for.i sending back four batsmen for 17 runs. Levin were unlucky fiot to have won the match. Paraparaumu scored 53 on the second innings and when Levin went back to bat, time was against theih. They had compiled 40 runs fdf the lpss of three wickets at stumps. College A t. Foxton College A had ari eight pdirit win over Foxton in the junior competition. Foxton ' took the field first and gathered only 19 runs. The bowler ahriost eritirely fes'ponsible for this was Hariiiltdil, Who took six wickets for seven runs. College replied with 115^ for Seven wickets. Highlight Of the day was a brilliant kriock by Lind, who contributed 97 runs. Sciascia (32) and- Harvey (35) were other good Scorers. % Two batsmen retirdd. Robinson took two wickets fOr 23 runs. Foxton's second innings saw Some better batfcing and they « added 52 ruris. McAlist6r contributed 14.
