Shannon Bridal Party In White Gowns

On the summeFs day of Satuirday, November 6, a .gatheririg of relatives and friepds, too la'rgfe for Ven. Be-de's Angliean Church, Shannon, to accommiodate, was present to witness the uniting in the bonds of holy matrimony of Florence Elaine, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Chester, Stout Street, Shannon, and William Alexander, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Robertson, Nathan Terrace, Shannon. Friends had decorated the church with white arum lilies, watsonia, orange blossom and deep red roses. Silver bells tied with bows of white ribbon were sus'pended on toroad ribbons above the bridal couple and red and white flowers tied with white bows ornamented the pew ends. • To the bridal march, played' on ■the organ by Mrs. R. R. Lind, the officiating minister, Rev. M. J. S. Wheeler, led a niost attractive white-gowned bridal party up the aisle to the sanctuary steps, the bridesmaids' ■ beautiful bouquets of deep red roses and matching half circlets of roses worn .to the back of their heads giving a splash 'of colour. Given in marriage by her father, the ibride wore a iongtrained gown of white embossed cloque, the fitting bodice featuring a circular yoke of old lace edged with a tiny frill. The sleeves were long and pointed over the wrists and the skirt was slightly gathered at the hips. Held in -place with a halo of orange blossoms, the embroidered tulle veil fell to form a second train. A single string of pearls and a bouquet of roses and orchids completed a charming ensemble. Three 'maids were in attendance. They were the bride's sister, Miss Gillian Chester (chief), her cousin, Miss Linley Ferrier, of Glen Oroua, and a friend, Miss Merle Haley, of Shannon. They were dressed alike in slightly trained gowns made of white embossed marquisette. The fittingbodices had scalloped cap sleeves and sweetheart necklines. They. wore necklaces of pearls, elbowlength mittens and carried 'exquisite bouquets of deep red roses. ;

The best man was the' bridegroom's only brother, Mr. Maurice Robertson, and the groomsmen the bride's hrother, . Mr. E. Chester, and a friend, Mr. T. B. Newton, all' of Shannon. Mr. S. Chester and Mr. S. Hyde were ushers. ] Showers of confetti greeted the' happy couple as they came out from the church and customary good luck horseshoes were presented to the bride by little Sandra Schwabe (Moutoa) and Jocelyn Ferrier ( Glen Oroua) . Quantities of arum lilies and greenery decorated the Parish Hall where the reception was held. The long tables were most attractive with vases of red and white flowers, the bridal table featuring white roses and maidenhair fern, jvhile in the centre a beautifully fohite iced three-tier cake decorated with White orgpndie flowers and silver emblems surmounted by a vase of silver flowers and- leaves. The cake was made and presented to the bride by her brother-in-law, Mr. L. H. -Wilson, of Waverley. Mr. and Mrs. Chester, assisted by the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robertson, welcomed the 1440 guests, Mrs. Chester wearing a maroon two-piec© suit, matching hat, black accessories and a corsage of pink and cream roses, and Mrs. Robertson in a brown suit, matching accessories and a spray of golden roses. Mr. L. H. Wilson .was .toastmaster, the customary toasts being honoured, that to the bride and bridegroom being proposed by Rev. M. J. S. Wheeler, vicar of the parish. At intervals items were given by Miss Joan SwindlehurSt and Miss V. Munford (pianoforte solos) and Mr. F. O. Burtt (songs) . Later the guests went to the hride's home to view the many beautiful gifts. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Robertson left for their wedding trip to the north, the latter wearing a powder blue braided plainly cut frock under an off-white coat and black accessories. The bridegroom presented the bride with a gold wristlet watch and to the bridesmaids crystal vases. Mr. and Mrs. Robertson have taken up !their residence in Shannon.
