' bibJje truth Is the Bible to be Taken Liierally? Of alj the strange perversities of : humaii nature noh'e is so inexcusable and contrary}:to f'acts as the habit pf, ' dpjasfryipg' all kinds of Bible^'^k^irienfc^^propliecies, doo— trines, etc., as not literal, or really saying that the words do not mean what they say. Admlttedly there are passages of fLgurative meaning, such as the Book of Revelation, which itself .claims to be a book of "signs" br symbol's, Rev.' 1:1. But these are self-evide.nt to ordinary unbiassed intelligerice; and give no ground whatever for changing positive literal , statenients into figure, to suit the expositor's own ideas. Take for instance in Psalm 2:7 we read "the. Lord hath said unto Me, Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten Thee." No "Christian" disputes that this is literal, means exactly what it says, and refers to Jesus many centuries beforehand, and was fulfilled in Mat. 3:17, and Acts 13:33. Now the same speaker, God, goes on to say without a break; verse 8, "Ask of Me, and I shall give Thee the heathen (nations) for Thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession." These words are just as plain and literal as those in the verse before, and by the same speaker, they mean that Jesus will rule the nations on earth; do they not? God willing, further examples along these lines will be published in this column next week. Free literature in relation to Bible Truth sent to any address on application to H. W. (7) TWO WAYS (Cont.) Traveller: You told me you were going' to that wonderful place called "Heaven" — bow do you know you are going there? Preacher: Well, it is like this. I was once like you on the broad road that leads! to destruction, and I discovered through the reading the Bible, \ which is "The Word of God," that I was a poor sinner, unfit for Heaven, and only fit for hell; and I was going there, like the poor rich man in Luke 16, and I discovered in Rom. 5:6-8 that Christ died for sinners like me; and then I found in Verse 1 that being justified by faith I have peace with God. In John 5:24 I believed; in John 1:12 I received Him, ahd was saved, and my destiny changed.
