WHANGAREI, Dee. 2. •Thirteen years of persistent efl'qrt to have Northland" adopted as the name of the seven northern counties, instead of North Auckland, were crowned with suceess today when the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce received the foliowipg letter from the New Zegla-ed Gepgraphic Board: "We have to advise that the Geographic Board has approved the use of the name Northland for the area north of Jtodney Countv. This decision, vyhich js nqt intended to create .a speeial administratiye area, will pe notified in the New Zealand Gazette iu aecofdance with the provjsion of the New Zealand Geographic Board Aet 1940."
