Audience Takes Charge At Communist Meeting
NEW PLYMOCTH, Dee. 1. The audieiu-ij at a Communist-spon-sored public meeting at Frankleigli Park dis-regarded a rujing by the ejiuirman and carried a resolution calling for the introductiou of peaeetime compulsory military training. The audience then sang "God Have the King. " The meeting was called by leattets to hcar Goinmunist Partv members diseu^s ' 1 peace or wai." One leuflet gave the party's objections to jieacetime conipuisory training. At the end of question time, Mr. C. Ilume asked permission to put a motiou urging that, in view of the emphatie leud given by the Prime Minister, tipi Leader of the Opposition, and the Rje turned Services Assoeiation, no time bc lost in adopting compulsory training. Ile was told the inotion could not be aecepted, as speakers were present ogjy to give ipf'ormation, that the subjeet had barelv been touched, and tjiat no resolution was required. While Nfr. Hump persisted, the chair was vaeatfid. and the meeting declared c.losed, but Mr. Hume put His qiotiop., which was carried by acclamation.
