Shattered glass, splintered wood and broken fittings • stretching 70 yards along tlie roadway, marked the site of a eollision between a 15ewt truck and a t-ramear at.New Plymouth on Saturday. Mrs. O. E. Connett, an elderly woman travelJing in the tram, was cut on the fae e by ' fLying ; glass. aixd huff ered^ from shoek. Her condition tonight was reported to be satisfactory." Two of the threo oceupants of the truck were subseque^itly arrested. The driver, a Cambridge man; will be charged with intoxication while in charge of a motdr vehicle, and one passenger, a New Plymouth resident, will face a charge of drunkenness. The damage done to both vehicles was speetaeular. The front right corner of the tramcar was completely smashed . and the step shorn off. The right hand side of the body of the truck was shorn off from end to end and this included the decking 18 inches in from the side. The occupantSj however, escaped injury.
