Marching Success For Levin

Competlng at the marching championships at Marton on Saturday, the Caiedonian girls' team was successful in jvinning the contest . march and being placed second in the streeh march compotition. Miss S. Smiith wa® also Successful- -in- the leaders' contest. Ten teams took part, Shamrock being the only other Horowhenua entrdnt. Intermittent rain fell throughout the afternoon and condi-tions were anyth)ng but pleasant. This is the first • occasion in which a Horowhenua team has won an open championship, and it augurs well as this was the first contest of t'he season. The next open contest will , be held at Levin on November ' 27, when teams from as far north as Taumarunui will .be taking part. Overnight billets wilF be required for teams confing from a long distance and anyone desirous of accommodating memhers of teams are asked to contact the secretary of the local association, Box 19, Levin. ^
