Fines And Penalties In Otaki Court

' Charged with driving without due care and. attention at Raumati on July 24, Francis Bernard Eagan was convicted and fined £1 10s by Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, Otaki, yester'day. Costs were 10s. Traffic Inspector J. Doggett said that defendant had been learning to drive a truck and a licenced driver was sitting beside him. He attempted a left-hand turn into a cross-roa'd and had seen a car 'coming. Applying the ' brake, his foot had slipped on to the accel'erator and the two vehicles had 'struck. The truck had been a three-ton vehicle.
