Large Numbers Heard Tory Street Choir

Last Sunday evening vsome hundreds of people „had the pleasure hf he.arjng the celebrated Tory. ■Stret Choir in ■ theftegent Theatre' in conneetion with the Second A&vent , campajgn. The th.anks: and appreciatioh of the local. people was ejipfesse.d ,by 5. S. Moir. Hnder the leadership of Mr. E. N. Coppin, brother of 'tne .campaigner, the programme of beautifurhymtis and sacred songs was presented. At the commencement of his address on the "Second Corning of Chrjs't," the evahgelist made i'eference to the presence of the, Mayor and Mayoress, of Leyin, Mr.; and Mrs. H. B. Burdekih; whose frne example to the communjty was very gratifying, and he hoped It would reSult in even mor'e attending the Second Adven't sefVices, which were- being conducted for the good of the people ahd with no "parfcy" motive. There was only one true church, )said the speaker, and it Was form- ' sd of all who were truly born again and had •received forgiveness Of sins and eternal life. Some of these might be found in any or all of the religious bo.dies. Whatever church a person claimed to be in, he was not one of -Christ's own Church uhtil cleansed by His blood. When the first phase of Christ's coming took place, only true Christians would be transiated from earth to heaven. Those not truly born again would be feft behind in their siris to meet oncoming judgment. A period of about s even years, spoken .of in Scriptures as the "time of Jacob 's trouble," would follow. The suffering of the . Jews would greatly exceed any previous suifering, This period wouid foe brought to a gudden close by the appearing of Christ and His people from heaven to the help of the Jews and the total discomforture ,ahd defeat of His enemies at the Battle of JArmageddon. j

A very earnest appeal to all to accept Christ as Saviour and Lord was supported by the » famous North Indian bass soloist, Mr, George Axo, whose Negro spiritual, "Were you there when they cruciSied my Lord?" and the full choir 's appeal in the hymn, "None can help like Jesus," made a deep impression. The large attendance imust have been gratifying to those Who have convened these gatherings fo herald .the near retum of Christ. The coming Sunday seryice will be advertised in the columns from Thursday's issue to the end of the week. , * : . • - - —
