! The October meeting of the . Otaki-Te Horo branch of the Women's Division • of Fe'derated Farmers was . field reqently. The ; president, / Mrs. Blackburne, welcomed- some new members and visitors. Special interest was cen- ; tred round the 21st birth'day party ■ held last month, and -ali felt that a fitting- and happy function had been ■ celebrate'd. Members were congratulate'd on thir loyal and energetic support, which had made the party so successfnl. The treasurer, Mrs. Holmes, gave a fLnancia-I statement and it was unanimousY deci'ded to send a further donation towards the rest home', "Scotlands," at Auckland. Special tnanks were -accorde'd to the members who served afternoon tea at the Otaki fiower show, the funds from which had been devoted to the branch's parcels for Britain fund. This amount was considerably swelled by the splendid effort of Mrs. Walker, who was given a round of applause for her grand display and sale of plants. It was decided to hold a shop day in November at Otaki, Te Horo an'd Otaki Railway. The hope was expressed that ali members would do their best to, make this day a financial success. Mrs. Jenkins gave a very inter- j esting and realistic talk on a trip to tne Glacier. After learning of the grandeur of the south, ali 'decided to make their next holiday in that direction. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Mac'donald and Marino. The bring-and-buy stall did brisk business under tne able attendance of Mesdames Fife and Sutton. In Sap- ' tember Mesdames Blackburne, K. Taylor and V. J. Cottle were pres- . ent at the provincial meeting in Levin, while Mesdames Corngan, Jenkins, Blackburne, V. J. Cottle , and K. Taylor, and Miss Avery, attended the school of instruction in Levin.
