>■ ■ AITKLAND, Nov. 7. Widely known as the founder of the j Iona ('omuiunity 011 the Scottish Isiand of Iona, tlie Rev. Dr. George Aiaeleod, arrived in Auckland by air from Sydney 011 Haturday. Dr. Alaoleod has for some time been desirous of visiting New Zealand and Australia in the interests of the Iona Community and readily accepted the invitatioji of the Presbyterian churches to do so. He is pioneer of a unique religions movement whieh has supporters in Presbyterian churches throughout the world. Its aims are to restore the aneient Iona Abbey and to reiate the Ghristian Gospi 1 to all aspeots of life. The Abbey was founded by Golumba in the sixth centurv, 200 years after Christianity had been estab- ; lished in Scotland. Work on its restoration is done in the summer nionths by voluntary labour whieh sliares in tlie life of the community.
